Entry from: Uyuni, Bolivia Entry Title: "Salt Lakes and Flamingos" Entry: "We have FINALLY arrived in Bolivia! It was quite the journey which involved 29 hours on a bus from Buenos Aires to Villazon, just over the Bolivian border. We arrived in the dusty town and had to walk across a bridge that spanned a filthy dried up river bed to customs. We had one hour until the only train for the next few days left so we decided to keep trucking and get on the train. After 41 exhausting hours of transit, we finally fell into bed in the small town of Uyuni. The nights are very cold here and the air is so dry that every movement under my mountain of wool blankets creates a myriad of sparks. This country is very different and unique from any country we have visited so far. Most of the women wear knee length velvety looking skirts with tights and sandals. On the top they wear many layers and usually a blanket-looking wrap over top. They wear colourful blankets on their banks, stuffed with everything from food to babies. I am trying to get a good picture but they are also very shy and do not take well to having their pictures taken! Our main reason for visiting this town was to join a tour to explore the area´s plethora of natural attractions. The drive would take us through desert surrounded by mountains. The only ...
